Abstract: Idiopathic Small Fiber Neuropathy in Children
Clinical and Laboratory Profiles of Idiopathic Small Fiber Neuropathy in Children: Case Series.
Balushi, Kim, Krause, and Kafie looked at idiopathic small fiber neuropathy findings in children who had small fiber neuropathy confirmed by history, clinical exam, and low intraepidermal nerve fiber density.1 The review concluded that there was evidence of immune-mediated small fiber neuropathy in a high proportion of the cohort.
“Five patients had positive IgM against TS-HDS, 3 of whom had lower extremity predominant paresthesia. In conclusion, a high proportion of patients with idiopathic SFN in our cohort had a positive IgM TS-HDS antibody.”
